It is part of a major expansion of Fantasyland and is based upon the classic story of Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the first animated feature film.


Fantasyland is currently undergoing a large expansion and renovation. "The New Fantasyland will be constructed in phases with most new experiences open by 2013."

Recent conceptual artwork for the expansion shows several new additions and changes. The Magic Kingdom's original Snow White attraction, Snow White's Scary Adventures, was permanently closed on May 31, 2012. Princess Fairytale Hall, a new Disney Princess meet and greet, will be established where Snow White's Scary Adventures formerly existed. A new area themed to Disney's 1937 film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is currently under construction and will feature Snow White's cottage and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster ride.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will be a steel roller coaster by Vekoma. The ride will travel both indoors and outdoors. Unlike some other Disney roller coasters, such as California Screamin' and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, this attraction will be less intense and will appeal to a family oriented crowd. It will feature a new ride system which simulates the swaying and tipping one would expect to experience in a mine cart.
